Margarita Island Things To Do

Idyllic white sand beaches await you on Margarita Island and there are plenty to choose from. The 4.5km Playa El Agua is the most popular beach, although Playa Parguito will also be busy. These beaches are much loved by surfers and swimmers and have a host of facilities nearby including shops and restaurants and shady palm trees.

 

As you would expect from a Caribbean paradise there is no shortage of water sports on Margarita Island. Scuba diving, snorkelling, windsurfing and kite surfing are all very popular here and the southern beaches attract world champion kite surfers.

 

A great way to see the island is from the deck of a yacht or from a cruise boat. There are numerous excursions and cruises available in Margarita Island and charter boats are always waiting at Pampatar harbour. A sail boat trip to Coche Island with its stunning beaches will be an unforgettable experience.

 

Sightseeing on Margarita Island should include a boat tour to La Restinga National Park, home to coral sand beaches and secluded islands. The islands of Coche and Cubagua are also well worth a visit for the deserted beaches alone. A chance to view the world’s highest waterfalls at Angel Falls should also not be missed. Horse riding and jeep excursions around the island are also available and a great way to sightsee at your own pace.

 

Seafood is a speciality in the restaurants on Margarita Island and the seafood on offer, including lobster dishes, will be the freshest available. There is also a wide choice of restaurants serving Italian, Spanish, French, and Venezuelan dishes.

 

The nightlife in Margarita Island can be as lively or as low key as you wish. Take you pick from casinos, nightclubs, vibrant live music bars and quieter pubs. On Margarita Island you are never more than 20 minutes from Porlamar where the dancing lasts until 3am or later.
