Beaches
Marco Island has several delightfully exotic beaches including South beach, Tigertail beach and Residents beach. And you’ll love the island’s clean, deserted coves and bays.
 
Restaurants and Bars
Famed for its seafood, many of Marco Island’s excellent restaurants specialise in fresh local fish dishes. The bars are lively and friendly, and many have regular Happy Hours and special deals. You’ll also find music nights, tribute nights and specialist music bars, a comedy club, piano bar and a huge variety of good humoured, friendly evening entertainment.  
 
Ten Thousand Islands
Marco Island is just one of around 10,000 islands that you can explore in the area by boat, aeroplane, seaplane and airboat.
 
Fishing
Enjoy superb fly fishing on the island’s varied 70 mile long coastline and in the mysterious backwaters of the everglades. Charter a boat and go specialist fishing for exotic catches like snook, shark, grouper and king mackerel.
 
Hiking, Wildlife and Bird Watching
Wildlife and nature are abundant here. To the north you’ll find Rookery Bay’s National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Briggs Memorial Nature Centre. To the south is the 10,000 islands National Wildlife Refuge, Collier-Seminole State Park, Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve, Big Cypress National Preserve and the world famous Everglades National Park. Take a stimulating eco-tour, enjoy exploring the area’s many excellent hiking trails or take a camping trip out into the wilds.
 
The Gulf of Mexico
The warm, deep blue Gulf of Mexico is ideal for boat tours, sailing, yachting, swimming, shelling, snorkelling, windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking, all of which are readily available in the area.
 
Manatees
Take a family boat trip to a remote Manatee colony in the everglades and see these amazing endangered animals in real life. Manatees are well known for being gentle as well as very friendly and curious, so you’ll be able to get up close and experience one of the world’s oddest and most unusual creatures.
 
Collecting shells
Marco Island is famed for its beautiful shells. When the tide is low, shells are exposed for easy collection and if you’re lucky you’ll find some fantastic exotic specimen to take home.
 
The Esplanade
Marco Island’s Esplanade is a massive luxury retail area packed with excellent shopping and good quality waterfront dining. Complete with lush tropical landscaping, the Esplanade’s shops and restaurants face directly into the splendid sunset, making this a great place to eat in the evenings.
 
Marco Town Centre Mall
The island’s Marco Town Centre Mall, on North Collier Boulevard, will provide anything you could possible need on holiday whether it is clothes or food, household goods or cosmetics, medicines or electronics.
 
Boating
Marco Island is stuffed with marinas, bait shops and tackle shops. You’ll find it easy to hire boats and equipment, book boat tours and get useful, friendly advice.
