Head for the beach
A holiday in the Marche region offers the perfect spot for beach lovers. Several resorts dot the Adriatic coastline and offer long stretches of sand or tiny, secluded coves. San Benedetto del Tronto boasts six kilometres of sand and thousands of palm trees whilst the area around Monte Conero has small beaches nestling beneath dramatic cliffs.
Experience the dizzying beauty of San Leo
This ancient fortress town sits atop a precipice in the very north of Marche. Founded by the Romans, San Leo is both a stunning feat of engineering and beauty as well as offering the visitor a truly historical trip with the pretty old village, roman columns and churches with fascinating crypts and carvings.
Get physical on the Conero promontory
The stunning white cliffs just south of Ancona are the ideal destination for both the casual walker and serious hiker. The view of the coast from the top of the hills is simply breathtaking and after all the exertion just pop down to one of the pretty bays for a well deserved dip.

The major town in Marche, Urbino is a pretty, historic town that offers a great deal to the visitor. In addition to numerous historic attractions, Urbino is a lively, vibrant centre boasting numerous opportunities for shopping and eating out or sipping an espresso with the locals and watching the world go by.
Explore the great outdoors
The Monti Sibillini National Park is a beautiful rural area to the south of Marche. Home to wolves, bears, golden eagles and stunning scenery, the park is best explored on foot, by bike or on horseback but is the perfect day trip destination by car for those who want a break from the beach.
Soak up some culture
Art and culture lovers will find plenty to keep them happy in Marche. The beautiful palace in Urbino is home to many Renaissance artworks while in Lorenzo Lotto the works of some of Italy's most celebrated artists are on display. To the south, Ascoli Piceno is a relatively undiscovered medieval town brimming with architectural gems.
