The weather in Malaga is among the best weather in Spain: typically Mediterranean, long sunny days are guaranteed during the entire extended summer season. Rainfall in Malaga is low throughout the year and practically non-existent from the end of May to the end of September. Average sunshine hours in Malaga are exceptionally high, with over 10 hours sun in the summer and 6 hours in the winter. It is sunny for no less than 300 days a year. The region is not called the Costa del Sol for nothing!

The hottest days in Malaga can go well over 30º but humidity is relatively low so it is seldom uncomfortable. Malaga sea temperatures start to rise in May and climb steadily. Summer night time temperatures in Malaga are a delight. It is little wonder the locals spend so much time eating and drinking in the open air. Even the mountain weather in Malaga is beautifully warm and low on rainfall, hence the popularity of pretty mountain villages like El Gastor, Arriate and Benaojan. Mild winters and hot dry summers account for the beautifully colourful flowers, shrubs and trees that make mountain towns like Ronda such a photogenic delight. Bring a light jacket or jersey in case the wind picks up on the promenade or you spend an evening outside in the highest mountain villages.
