General All inclusive Reviews Things to do Weather

Hiking
With country lanes, olive groves and spectacular gorges, Majorca is a paradise for walkers of all ages and abilities. The weather is perfect for hiking in spring, early summer and the autumn, when the island also attracts migratory birds such as ospreys and falcons. The Serra de Tramuntana are famed for their magnificent views, with charming villages, palaces, monasteries and hidden beaches to be discovered along the way.

Water sports
Its climate, good beaches, favourable winds and warm water temperatures mean that Majorca is ideal for all kinds of water sports activities - including jet skiing, sailing, windsurfing, and scuba diving - for enthusiasts as well as beginners. Water sports centres, nautical clubs and marinas abound, with all the larger resorts offering equipment hire, so it’s easy to try something new.

Horse riding and cycling
The beautiful, wide-open countryside of Majorca is perfect for exploring on horseback or cycle.  For those who just want to see a little more of the island tourist locations will offer hourly rentals, but real enthusiasts are also catered for. The varied terrain and relatively clear roads, particularly in spring, attract professional cyclists who use the island for training, while horse lovers will find that many fincas, or farmhouses, offer specialist riding holidays.

Golf
Majorca is a favourite destination for golfing holidays, for families and groups. However, the island’s temperate climate, which allows play all-year round, and the number of and variety of courses mean that the fairways are rarely crowded. The courses are excellent quality, and include Golf Santa Ponsa, the host venue for the Balearic Open.

Events, Fiestas and Festivals
Local Saints’ days, harvests and past battles are all celebrated with music, food and dancing throughout the year in villages and towns all over Majorca. Each is different and provides a colourful insight into the island’s varied culture. Locally published magazines provide a list of upcoming events and festivals for visitors. Less traditional but equally vibrant are the yachting regattas held in Palma in April and August.
