Although Mahon does not have its own beach there are plenty of beautiful beaches nearby. You can head to the fine white sands at Punto Prima or the sandy beach at Es Grau that is sheltered by pine trees and its own fresh water lake.

If you like golf then try your hand at the Club de Golf Son Park in Mahon. The course offers breathtaking sea views and you can often find peacocks wandering onto the course.

Keep the children amused for hours at the Aqua Centre Water Park in Mahon. There are thrilling rides, water chutes, an adventure river, and bouncy castles. The park also has its own restaurant where you can have some lunch once you have managed to leave the Jacuzzi.

 

There are a host of sightseeing opportunities on holiday in Mahon. Visit the massive Baroque church of Santa Maria or Mahon’s town market where you can purchase souvenirs and local craft products. There is also the magnificent opera house that was opened in 1829 and is now used to show films and hold music concerts.

Mahon is home to some excellent restaurants serving great Mediterranean dishes. Fish and seafood dishes are very popular in this area but you will be spoilt for choice with the amount of restaurants and cafes available especially during the high season.

 

Mahon is home to one of the best natural harbours in the Mediterranean and there are many tour operators that provide excursions and sailing trips around the islands. You can book a day’s excursion with lunch and drinks included.

 

Other excursions around the area of Mahon are well worth booking. Make sure to visit the picturesque town of Ciutadella with its narrow winding streets, opulent palaces and Gothic Churches. This is a must for a romantic evening stroll around the little streets and stopping off at the atmospheric traditional restaurants.
