Madeira Beach lies on a barrier island along the west coast of Florida, and enjoys an enviable position on the Gulf of Mexico, between St. Petersburg and Clearwater. It sits between the sea and the Intercoastal Waterway, and is blessed with plenty of Florida sunshine and ever-present cooling Gulf breezes. The resort experiences a sub-tropical climate, with warm dry winters and hot humid summer months.

Winters see the best conditions for a holiday to Madeira Beach, with temperatures between 22C and 25C, and at least 7 hours of sunshine each day. There is little or no humidity during this time, and winters also see the driest conditions at the resort, with plenty of activities on and around the beach for visitors to enjoy. November receives the least rain, with just 40mm falling during the month, and the season seeing a monthly average of 50mm - 60mm. The sea temperature hovers around 16C - 20C, a little chilly for swimming, but the shallow waters and tidal currents mean excellent surf conditions in Madeira Beach, and the resort remains the most popular spot for enthusiasts along the coast. Most visitors make the most of the extensive boat trips up and down the Gulf Coast, and the pleasant evenings mean great weather for sunset cruises and al-fresco dinners on the waterfront.
Weather in Madeira Beach - Dry warm winters, hot humid summers
The temperature heats up in May, rising to 30C, and the very hot weather continues into the summer, with June to August seeing highs of 32C. There are up to 11 hours of sun at this time, but a dramatic increase in humidity makes conditions very hot and often uncomfortable, with the coastal breezes helping to temper the heat. There's also a marked rise in rainfall, with June seeing 140mm, and the peak summer period of July and August receiving 165mm - 180mm each month. The rain tends to come in the form of heavy afternoon showers, accompanied by frequent thunderstorms, but there is still plenty of sunshine each day. Hurricane season in the resort runs from June to November each year.
