Weather in Luperon - Beach resort on Dominican Republic's north coast
Luperon lies on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, just 50km from the capital, Puerto Plata. The resort is a purpose-built centre on the Atlantic Ocean, and enjoys a semi-tropical climate, with year-round hot weather and an abundance of sunshine. The temperatures do not fluctuate dramatically throughout the year and there is no definitive rainy season, but the period from May to September sees the highest amount of rain fall, in the form of brief but heavy showers.   
 
Luperon Weather - Visit during the winter for pleasant sunny conditions
Winter is the most popular time to visit Luperon, when the weather is at its coolest but the temperature is still between 28C - 29C each month. The resort sees a minimum of 6 hours of sun each day, and the humidity level is moderate and comfortable, with night time temperatures around 17C - 19C. Being on the Atlantic, the resort benefits from coastal breezes which help to temper the heat. Water temperatures in Luperon range from 27C - 28C during December and November, creating ideal conditions for swimming and water sports, and especially snorkelling. Winters can see periods of heavy rainfall - up to 246mm - which is usually short-lived.   
 
Weather in Luperon - Hot and humid summer season
Spring and autumn see pleasant temperatures of 29C - 31C, and 7 hours of sunshine, with the sea reaching 27C - 29C. Summers are the hottest in Luperon, seeing highs of 33C and 8 hours of sunshine, but experiencing very high levels of humidity, especially during August and September. The hurricane season runs from June to November, with August and September seeing the most risk of tropical storms.
