Two excellent beaches, Sweetwater and Marmaris near the Aradena gorge, are reached by boats provided by local fishermen, leaving Loutra in the mornings. Loutro is connected by all-important ferry with Chora Sfakion and Agia Roumeli and on to Paleochora. The coast ferry makes an inexpensive way of viewing this fine stretch of Crete coastline, with a stop in Chora Sfakion to soak up the atmosphere.
