Lourdas – Mid-sized resort with an immense beach
Lourdes is on the south coast of Kefalonia, 12 miles south-east of the capital Argostoni and just 7 miles from the airport. Lourdas holidays are based in an established mid-sized resort; an area running from the village of Vlachata down through the village of Lourdas or Lourdata and down again to Lourdas beach which is a popular and very long stretch of pale sand and shingle. Lourdas is situated at the end of a steep winding road that descends from the main coast road making the resort quite secluded. The focal point of Lourdas holidays is the long pale sandy beach and the shady village square with its vast plane tree and typical Greek tavernas and cafes.
Lourdas holidays – Popular beaches and plenty of low-key nightlife
Lourdas beach of fine sand and pebbles and clear turquoise water stretches for over two miles along one of the longest bays on Kefalonia. It is a steep walk back into the village from the beach. Lourdas holidays could visit other beach resorts in the region like quieter Trapezaki beach and Sparta beach. The hillside setting of the village provides views of the island of Zante and impressive Mount Aenos inland. Lourdas holiday entertainment is low key and largely restricted to the tavernas found along the waterfront and in and around the village square along with a couple of music bars. Not sleepy but nothing too noisy either.
Lourdas – Set in beautiful surroundings
Holidays in Lourdas enjoy beautiful surrounding countryside and remnants of typical Kefalonia rural life. A holiday in Lourdas is not complete without taking the popular walk to Katsonas beach and Sission monastery. With transport you could explore the beautiful countryside and villages of the Livathos area and the south east of Kefalonia. Other Lourdas holiday excursions include boat trips to the islands of Ithaca and Zante.
