Los Cristianos Things To Do

things to do in los cristianos

Nightlife
Los Cristianos has a variety of restaurants, music venues, fun pubs and Karaoke bars, yet it is still relatively quiet compared to its immediate neighbour, Playa de las Américas. For those looking for no-holds barred good time that lasts all night long, Playa is just minutes away. February/March is Carnival time on Tenerife, offering a chance to see how the locals enjoy a good time.

Beaches
Playa de los Cristianos beach is next to the harbour, the larger Playa de la Vistas beach has a blue flag award and is possibly the best beach in Tenerife. Further south is a third beach, which is pebbly with an unofficial nudist area. There are other excellent, sheltered beaches within easy reach.

Water sports and other activities
All kinds of water sports are catered for, from jet skiing, windsurfing, parascending, and surfing to pedaloes and banana boat rides. There are scuba diving centres nearby, offering dives for all abilities with warm, clear sea and caves, corals and spectacular sea life. Tenerife is also excellent for activities such as tennis, golf – the island boasts some first-class courses - and hiking.

The harbour
Before becoming a major tourist area this was a sleepy fishing village and while some fishing boats remain, they have been joined by international yachts and catamarans, ferries and hydrofoils. The short trip over to the neighbouring island of La Gomera is recommended for its peace and serenity.

Whale and dolphin trips
Sailing boats, catamarans and glass-bottomed boats will take visitors out to see the whales and dolphins for which the area is famous. There’s a chance to spot pilot whales, bottlenose dolphins, sperm whales and more than twenty other species.

Mount Teide National Park
There’s an incredible range of plants and animal life, excellent hiking trails and awe-inspiring views. A cable car takes visitors up Mount Teide, although the ascent is almost vertical and not for the faint-hearted. From the top, it is possible to see all of the Canaries.

Fun for children
Youngsters love AquaPark Octopus with its water slides, adventure rides and dolphinarium. Tenerife Zoo and the Eagles Park, featuring parrots, penguins and, of course, eagles are also within easy reach.

Shopping
Shopping is duty free and there’s a large market every Sunday where bargain hunters can find everything from T-shirts to watches and jewellery.
