Holidays in Los Cristianos Los Cristianos, located just 15km west of the airport, is the second largest tourist destination on the island of Tenerife, and caters to families and couples who want to be have access to the infamous nightlife of the area, yet stay somewhere slightly quieter. Situated right next door to itsβ brash noisy neighbour, Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos is just a 5 minute taxi ride away, and the two resorts have merged together to such an extent that it is impossible to separate the two. Los Cristianos, an old fishing village, has managed to retain a certain amount of Canarian charm, and offers a more relaxing base for a holiday.
Holidays in Los Cristianos β Take a boat trip from the busy harbour The seafront at Los Cristianos is filled with man-made beaches β the best being Playa de las Vistas, with clean waters and covered with imported sand from the Sahara. The main hub of Los Cristianos is the harbour, home to many international yachts, pleasure boats, and even some fishing boats. From here, ferries and hydrofoils depart making the hourly voyage over to the neighbouring island of La Gomera, and popular boat trips take tourists out to see the many dolphin and whale colonies that live in these waters. A pedestrian promenade runs the entire length of Los Cristianos, lined with shops, bars and restaurants, and the old town centre, also traffic-free, is home to a Catholic church and terraced streets housing a thriving local population. There is plenty of accommodation in Los Cristianos, ranging from the older hotels and apartments down on the seafront, to the newer area inland.
Holidays in Los Cristianos β A few minutes from the clubs and bars of Playa de las Americas Whilst Los Cristianos is considered quiet compared to Playa de las Americas, it is still home to a huge variety of shops, bars and restaurants. Anything from Chinese, Mexican and Indian can be found here, as well as traditional Canarian cuisine, and the resort has plenty of English pubs and bars catering to the many British families who visit Los Cristianos, with the all-night clubs of Playa de las Americas just a few minutes away. Los Cristianos is ideally placed to visit the family attractions on Tenerife, including the nearby Aquapark and the Tenerife Zoo, and offers hot-air balloon rides over the resort. The weekly street market in the resort is a popular attraction each Sunday.
