Lopud Holidays – Relax on this charming island The island of Lopud is one of the 14 Elafiti islands, situated to the north west of Dubrovnik on the coast of Croatia. Lopud holidays in Croatia are relaxed and peaceful as the island is car free and can only be reached by boat. The island of Lopud was a favourite holiday location for noblemen and members of the Dubrovnik society and there are the remains of several historic buildings to explore. The resort of Lopud village is the main settlement on the island set around the curve of Lopud Bay.
Lopud beaches – Lovely sandy beaches and warm sea Lopud beaches are sandy and the sea is very inviting, Lopud Village has its own sandy beach but visitors to the island of Lopud should visit the famous beach at Sunj Bay. It is on the other side of Lopud Island and can be reached from Lopud Village either by boat or by a lovely walk through cypress and lemon groves. The beach at Sunj Bay is unique, it is horseshoe shaped, is full of beautiful sand and the sea is very shallow, knee deep almost 100 metres out from the beach, making Lopud holidays perfect for families and the local water based game of picigin. It is also possible to take a boat trip to the neighbouring island of Kolocep which has beautiful secluded beaches.
Lopud holidays – Unwind in a tranquil, picturesque setting The island of Lopud is interesting to explore, with plenty of history, beautiful walking trails through the green and lush vegetation and freshwater wells. There is also a park on the island of Lopud which was once the garden of a 19th Century villa. The small population of Lopud Island are friendly and welcoming and there are several restaurants and cafes serving traditional Croatian cuisine and fresh fish and seafood caught locally. The island of Lopud is a perfect destination for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.
