Skiing
Skiing in the Lombardy region is well catered for with resorts such as Livigno and Bormio. Bormio is Lombardy’s most famous ski resort and is situated at the entrance to the largest national park in Italy.  Bormio hosts world skiing events and the skiing facilities are second to none.  The views are spectacular and although the facilities are excellent, the prices are usually less expensive than at other European ski resorts.

Scenic Lakes
The Lombardy region is famous for its spectacular lakes, and Lake Como is said to be one of the world’s most romantic lakes and has been popular since early Roman times.  You can take a trip on a 1926 paddle steamer or hire your own motorboat at Navigazione Lago di Como, based in Como.  The company also operate night cruises during the summer with dinner and dancing included.

Water sports
With an abundance of lakes to choose from water sports in the Lombardy region are well catered for. Yachting, rowing and canoeing on Lake Como and Lake Maggiore are extremely popular and there are many operators available such as Circolo Vela Anje Bonnje at Via Pelasca where you can hire boats or yachts. There are also excellent diving and water-skiing facilities available on the Lakes such as the diving centre at Viale Geno.

Shopping
If you like spending money on the latest fashions then Milan is the place to be.  Milan is the best shopping city in Italy, especially if you like designer clothes and goods.  You cannot return from Milan without an item of clothing from Armani’s spectacular three-floor megastore.  Or how about picking up a nice diamond from Bulgari or Buccellati, considered the best jewellery designers in Italy.

Sightseeing
Sightseeing in the Lombardy region can take in historic ruins or spectacular views. The historic region has numerous churches, monasteries and quaint medieval villages to visit. The resort of Lugano has a funicular that will take you to the top of Monte Bre, Switzerland’s sunniest mountain, where you can dine at the mountain top restaurant and visit the village of Bre while taking in the views over the lakes and alpine mountains.
