Many visitors to Lividia are tempted by the famous E4 walking trail - a stunning route that leads through the village and takes in both lush countryside of Crete and spectacular coastal views. An excellent region to explore on foot, Western Crete offers everything from short scenic strolls to challenging hikes. Trekking guides are available.

Bird-Watching

The region is also extremely good for bird-watching with the farmlands, countryside and rugged cliffs home to many different species, including a rare kind of endangered vulture, as well as swallows and eagles.

Sports

The terrain is ideal for mountain-biking or leisurely rides, and the rocky coast offers excellent diving and snorkelling conditions. Sailing and surfing are available along the coast.

Beaches

The beaches around Lividia are wild and undeveloped, offering natural beauty and a real sense of tranquillity. The protected beach of Elafonisi is a popular excursion, with its shores boasting pink-tinged sand from local coral and clear turquoise waters, creating a haven for quiet relaxation. Other local beaches to visit include Keramoti Bay, Xotikospilio and Platanakia.

Boat Trips

Boats depart from the harbour in Lividia and take passengers along the coast, to find deserted coves and bays, or out on fishing trips.

Dining

This peaceful village has a few local tavernas and cafes, and the evening entertainment focuses on quiet dining and enjoying the views.

Day Trips

Visit the churches of the area, such as the monastery of Hrysoskalitissa, and discover various archaeological sites and monuments. The major town in the west is Chania, which lies 72km away but is an interesting day trip with its charming Venetian harbour, and excellent shopping and dining.
