Lisbon Weather – Exceptionally sunny and mild
Lisbon weather is noted for year-round mild temperatures and high levels of sunshine. Surprisingly, Lisbon is one of the warmest and sunniest capitals in Europe! The weather in Lisbon is certainly cooler than the Algarve in southern Portugal, but still remains very pleasant indeed throughout the long summer season. The summer average in Lisbon is 27º. Peak summer temperatures in Lisbon go over 30º, and most days are very sunny indeed. The Lisbon climate tends towards humidity, especially in July and August, but breezes from the sea help cool things down. Warm summer afternoons are ideal for relaxed walks, pavement cafes and outdoor dining.

Weather in Lisbon – Spring & autumn sunshine
In many ways the best time to visit Lisbon is late spring and early autumn, when the city is less humid, glorious Lisbon coast beaches are wonderfully uncrowded, and the whole region enjoys beautifully crystalline Atlantic Ocean light. The weather in Lisbon is more unpredictable than the Algarve but is generally very pleasant between May and October. Pleasantly warm spring and autumn weather in Lisbon means the Lisbon Coast holiday season is a long one. Average sunshine hours in Lisbon are a steady 8 in May, June, September and October, with temperatures around 20º.

Lisbon Weather – City break atmosphere
Lisbon is an excellent all-year-round city break destination. Lisbon winter weather is very mild, with January and December averages as high as 15º. Lisbon temperatures very rarely fall below 10º. One look at the beautiful lush vegetation and colourful flowers of Lisbon coast resorts like Cascais and Estoril reveals the amount of sunshine in this part of Portugal, but also the chance of rain! However, rain in Lisbon is very unlikely in July and August and is minimal in June and September. Don’t let rainy weather put you off a Lisbon city break in winter. Many Lisbon aficionados would claim Lisbon is at its atmospheric best on a moody misty day in winter! And Lisbon nightlife remains busy all year round!
