Limenaria – Fine base for superb south coast beaches
Limenaria is the second biggest town on Thassos and is on the south-west coast of the island, 30 miles from Thassos Town. Limenaria holidays are based in a town built at the end of the 19th century and slowly growing in popularity with visitors thanks largely to the magnificent beaches near the town and in Limenaria itself.

Limenaria holidays – Waterfront tavernas and promenade
Limenaria holidays tend to focus on the long attractive promenade that runs the length of the resort. Most of the more appealing and atmospheric tavernas, bars and shops are found here. Limenaria holidays offer the most extensive evening entertainment outside Thassos Town, with several music bars and discos. But Limenaria holiday nights are more likely spent in the tavernas and fish restaurants along the waterfront and especially around Limenaria harbour. Limenaria holidays feature some idiosyncratic buildings of Bavarian influence, neoclassical mansions and the ruins of a Venetian castle  along with unusual contributions from local artists, old fortifications  and a couple of museums.

Holidays in Limenaria – A fine selection of uncrowded beaches
Limenaria beach is a long stretch of pebbles and sand with a smaller cove alongside. Holidays in Limenaria can enjoy a selection of beaches within easy walking distance, ranging from the long tree-shaded main beach to much smaller and extremely quiet coves reached by footpaths. If you are prepared to make a little effort there are some strikingly deserted beaches hereabouts. Around a mile and a half north of town you will find another superb extensive sandy Limenaria holiday beach. Limenaria beaches provide excellent conditions for snorkelling but not all Limenaria beaches are particularly suitable for smaller children. Metali beach to the east is another quiet Limenaria beach with a bar and good snorkelling. Tripiti beach is exceptionally beautiful and has wonderfully clear water, fine sand and a bar. Holidays in Limenaria are popular with those looking for a good base from which to explore the excellent and uncrowded southern beaches of Thassos. Regular buses run along the coast to Thassos Town.
