Beaches With its 10km of stunning coastline, the beaches of Limassol are the hub of the resort, and the fantastic climate ensures that the coast is busy all year-round. A range of tourist facilities and water sports provide a good mixture of relaxation and beach activities.
Scuba-diving Diving is offered in the resort and the Mediterranean coastline is packed with a variety of reefs, tunnels and caves, as well as an array of fish and other marine life. One of the most visited sites in Cyprus is the famous wreck of the Zenobia ferry, which sank in 1980 on her maiden voyage to Cyprus, and lies just along the coast in Larnaca.
Recreation A lively and cosmopolitan city, Limassol offers a range of leisure activities and entertainment options. The waterpark, Fasouri Watermania, is a fun family day out and visitors also can enjoy go-karting and bowling in the resort, with a choice of golf courses close by. Lively and bustling, Limassol also boasts a colourful tourist centre, full of bars, cafes and restaurants, with the resort also hosting the vibrant Limassol Carnival every February and March.
Shopping From familiar high street stores to quaint local shops, Limassol offers a wide selection of shopping options for everyone. Choose from designer clothes in upmarket boutiques and large malls, to handmade goods and regional products such as lace and natural sponges.
Trips and excursions The Troodos Mountains are within easy reach whilst staying in Limassol and offer a delight for nature-lovers. The rich interior with its spectacular scenery hides plenty of walking and hiking trails and a wealth of local flora and fauna, as well as charming unspoilt villages and tranquil monasteries. Other resorts and cities to visit include the historic Larnaca, the capital Nicosia and Paphos.
Historic sites Limassol is home to a number of hisoric and cultural sites including the 15th century Kolossi Castle, Limassol Fort and the Folk Art Museum. The spectacular archaeological sites of Kourion, Amathus and Curiom are close by, and well worth a visit. Wineries Limassol is the centre of the wine-making industry, with the fertile ground near the southern foothills of the Troodos Mountains ideal for growing grapes. A number of wineries here offer tours and tastings of their wine, brandy, sherry and liqueurs, and every September a celebrated wine festival is held.
