Lazise Holidays

On the southern shore of Italy’s largest lake lies the pretty medieval town of Lazise. Lazise lies 20 kilometres from the city of Verona and is part of the province bearing the same name. The regional airport of Brescia Montichiari, served by Ryanair, is a mere 45-minute drive from the town, meaning that Lazise is a perfect destination whether for your summer holiday with the family or that romantic weekend getaway. For those traveling from farther afield the international hub of Milan Malpensa airport is a two-hour drive to the west while Venice Marco Polo airport is one and a half hours to the east of Lazise.

 

An attractive medieval town that was once the main trading port on Lake Garda, Lazise now exists primarily on the back of tourism. The charming harbour area offers a number of good bars and restaurants that compete for the attention of the visitor, making it easy to while away the hours in authentic Italian fashion taking in the ambience. Numerous sightseeing opportunities exist in Lazise, such as the 12^th century church of San Nicolo and the Scaliger castle. A small beach can be found within Lazise itself, however bigger and more popular beaches can be found at the town of Garda to the north and Pacengo to the south.

 

Lazise is served by numerous ferry and boat services by which one can visit many of Lake Garda’s resorts including Sirmione and Garda; both larger and offering more in the way of shopping than Lazise. For the kids there are theme parks in the area including Movieland and Aqua Paradise Park, so when they tire of the sightseeing there’s a reward just around the corner. If you’re looking for more action there are numerous hiking and mountain biking trails in the area and a couple of shops that will rent out bicycles.  Hotels catering to all budgets, as well as camp sites and hostels mean that Lazise has options suitable to all.
