Lassi – Outstanding sandy beaches
Lassi is on the south-west coast of Kefalonia, 2 miles from the capital Argostoli and just 3 miles from the airport. Lassi holidays have been popular since tourism first developed on Kefalonia. Holidays in Lassi are very much focused on two superb famous beaches in Kefalonia, with gently sloping golden sand and clear clean water perfect for swimmers and children. Makrys Yalos (Long Beach) and Platys Yialos (Wide Beach) are two of the best beaches on Kefalonia. Platys Yialos beach is a neat and clean attractive stretch of perfect pale sand, popular with the locals at the weekend. Watersports are available, with especially good snorkelling. Tourkopodaro beach and Paliostafida beach are two more fine options while on holiday in Lassi. More isolated coves can be found if you are prepared to explore. Fanari beach on the headland is tiny.
Lassi Holidays – Established resort and Kefalonia base
Lassi holidays enjoy a good busy selection of bars tavernas and restaurants on the main road but Lassi holiday nightlife does not extend to late-night discos despite it being the most developed and resort on Kefalonia. Discos can be found in nearby Argostoli. Argostoli is easily reached by bus or taxi. It is even possible to walk as Lassi is the nearest resort to the capital. With the capital so close many locals eat in Lassi which has some above-average tavernas and restaurants with good Greek food. Favourite Lassi holiday walks are to the famous swallow holes at Katovothres and the lighthouse at Farina. Cycling is a popular Lassi holiday activity as the region is flat. Lassi holidays could explore the Livathos region to visit authentic quiet inland villages like Kourkoumelata, beaches to the south of Lassi like Avithos, and the surrounding attractive countryside full of olive groves and citrus plantations. Popular Lassi holiday excursions include the red sand beach at Li, the picturesque village of Fiskardo, turtle spotting and boat trips to Ithaca Island.
