Beaches The beautiful beaches of Larnaca are the main attraction of the the resort - stretching for almost 25km along the coastline and offering a host of sports and leisure activities all year-round. Choose from Larnaca, McKenzie, Dasoudi or Dhekelia Beaches for swimming and sunbathing - all well-equipped and offering excellent tourist facilities, from sun loungers and umbrellas to convenient beach bars and restaurants.
Water sports With its gorgeous weather and abundance of sunshine, together with calm clear seas with pleasant warm temperatures, Larnaca is a haven for all manner of water sports. The many beaches offer a selection of water sports such as windsurfing, water-skiing and parsailing.
Scuba-diving A popular sport in Cyprus, scuba-diving is available in Larnaca, with the town home to a choice of dive centres and schools. The blue Mediterranean waters boast excellent visibility, and offer divers a wealth of sites to see - from tunnels, reefs and caves, to one of the most famous shipwrecks in the world, the Zenobia, which lies just off the coast of Larnaca.
Sailing WIth its large attractive marina, Larnaca is a popular base for yachting, and there are many trips available for those keen on relaxing on the open seas, from chartering a skippered yacht, to taking a half-day, full-day or sunset cruise along the beautiful coastline.
Golf The wonderful climate and rich scenery have helped to make Southern Cyprus an increasingly popular year-round golfing destination. The island is now home to three courses around the south-west coast area, just a short distance from Larnaca, and visitors to the resort can enjoy a round or two in lovely surroundings whilst on holiday.
Attractions Boasting a long history, this ancient city is home to archaeological sites, such as Choirokoitia and Kition, as well as the District and Larnaca Archaeological Museums, where many artefacts and relics are displayed. Also of interest are Larnaca Castle, St. Lazarus and Panayia Angeloktistos Churches and the Moslem shrine of Hala Sultan Tekke.
Trips Trips and excursions from Larnaca include the scenic Troodos Mountains for walking, hiking and visiting wineries and monasteries, the busy tourist resort of Ayia Napa, with its famous Waterpark, and in winter and spring, the Salt Lake, home to many pink flamingos stopping off on their migration routs. Cyprus is easy to travel around, so many of the major sights and cities can be visited from Larnaca, such as the capital, Nicosia, and Paphos.
