La Pineda holidays
La Pineda, situated on the north-east coast of Spain on the Costa Dorada, is a relaxing family resort and, together with its’ neighbours Salou and Cambrils, makes up the largest tourist region in the area. A stretch of 10 km of sandy beaches and a string of secluded unspoilt coves attracts many holidaymakers to La Pineda, along with the wonderful weather, beautiful scenery and extensive tourist facilities. The Costa Dorada has always been a favourite with Spanish tourists, but the opening of the theme park, Universal Port Aventura, just outside La Pineda in 1995, has meant that the resort has seen an invasion of British tourists in the last few years.

Holidays in La Pineda – A modern yet quiet and relaxing resort, close to Salou
Compared to its’ noisy neighbour, Salou, with its’ British-style bars and pubs, La Pineda is a much quieter resort, fairly modern and perfect for families with children and couples. The beaches along the Costa Dorada, known as the ‘Gold Coast’, are of a high standard and the long sandy beach at La Pineda is no exception. It is kept clean and offers safe conditions for swimming and plenty of facilities such as beds and umbrellas for peaceful sunbathing. The beach at La Pineda is backed by a seafront promenade, at 2.5 km the longest in the area, and most of the resorts’ hotels, apartments and shops are close by. La Pineda offers a good choice of bars and restaurants, and caters to both locals and tourists, with authentic Spanish dishes and plenty of international food as well. During the height of the summer, many of the bars in La Pineda stay open late, but real party-goers should head for Salou, and its’ hectic nightlife.

La Pineda holidays – Ideally located for the Universal Port Aventura theme park
Holidays in La Pineda offer relaxing days on the beach and some fun days out for the family. A mini-train runs from the resort of La Pineda to the theme park, Universal Port Aventura, a Disney-style park modelled on Busch Gardens in Florida. Here, you’ll find rides and shows spread throughout 5 distinct areas, Mexico, the Mediterranean, Polynesia, China and the Wild West, with the thrilling Dragon Khan roller coaster the main attraction. Also in La Pineda is the Aquapolis water park, located right on the beachfront, with its’ slides and lakes, childrens’ play area and dolphin show. For a little more tradition, head to Cambrils, still an authentic fishing village with some great seafood restaurants.
