Weather in Koh Samui – Three very distinct seasons
The climate in Koh Samui is very pleasant throughout the year, with temperatures varying from 25C to 34C. The weather in Koh Samui can be divided into three very distinct seasons, the warm season, which lasts from February till May, the rainy season, which lasts from the end of September till November in Thailand, and the cool season, which runs from October till January.
Koh Samui Weather – Plan your visit according to rainy season
Between the months of December and February, it is the dry season in Koh Samui. There is very little rain during this period, but often a refreshing breeze, which is ideal given the year round sunshine. Between September and November, Koh Samui experiences what is known as the monsoon season. During this time, whilst it is still very hot and occasionally sunny, the showers are frequent but short lasting. In rainy season, there will often be some refreshing rain showers followed by the welcome return of sunshine.
Weather in Koh Samui – Intense heat during summer season
From March till August, the weather is exceptionally dry and hot. However, if you are fond of the intense heat and feel you are able to handle approximate daytime temperatures of 30-35C, then this makes an ideal time for a Koh Samui holiday. From July till September, there is also a chance of some rain showers, however these rarely last longer than a few minutes at a time and are can provide some relief from the heat. Whatever time you choose to visit, Koh Samui has a typically tropical climate and so is very humid at any time of year, yet fortunately, a welcoming breeze from the gulf provides a cooling breeze.
