An excellent choice for those looking for a calm, easygoing, relaxing base from which to visit Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort. Like Lake Buena Vista, Kissimmee offers quality hotels with excellent facilities set in superb grounds: a haven of peace and comfort after all the excitement of a Disney World holiday. Kissimmee is a popular choice with families looking for an alternative to all the bright lights of International Drive or staying in the theme parks themselves. Kissimmee feels a relatively “natural” resort after all the purpose-built fantasy in the region. There is plenty of landscaped greenery, trees, rivers and lakes: a particularly welcome asset with Florida’s warm sunny sub-tropical climate. As well as Disney and Universal, Kissimmee is well placed for the vast array of Orlando attractions and water parks, and makes a fine relaxing base for the natural attractions and wildlife of Florida, and longer excursions to the Gulf Coast and the Space Coast.

“Our second visit to Disneyland and Universal and no hesitation recommending Kissimmee as a base. You really need somewhere quiet after all the buzz and there are plenty of green open spaces here. Both our hotels have been first-class in terms of service and facilities, beautiful pools, nice grounds etc. There’s a lot to be said for getting some peace and quiet on holiday too!”

We were really glad we resisted the kid’s demands to stay in Disney World itself. Not taking anything away from the theme parks but it’s a relief sometimes to have somewhere tranquil where you can just do the normal holiday relax things and the kids can have some quiet time. Nice green area but still close to all the fun.
