Kingston Things To Do

Bob Marley Museum
Kingston's most famous attraction, the Bob Marley Museum is housed in the singer's former home and recording studio. There's an interesting mix of music and memorabilia on display, magnificent murals and a reference library, with guided tours giving a detailed insight into the life and times of the reggae star.

Attractions
The National Gallery, Devon House, and the Hope Botanical Gardens and Zoo are the other major attractions if you are on a holiday in Kingston. City tours are available, which feature most of the main sights, and offer a convenient way to view the sights.

Sports & Leisure
There's bike rental, horse riding and tennis available in and around Kingston, as well as golf, and fishing trips and sailing in the surrounding areas. Cricket is a national obsession, and there are opportunities to relax and watch a leisurely game at Sabina Park, as well as some action on the polo field.

Entertainment
Kingston's nightlife scene is explosive, with all manner of bars, dance-halls, clubs thumping out the islands' reggae beats, and attracting a mainly-local clientele. There's a huge range of varied dining in the city, featuring plenty of casual Jamaican food as well as upmarket international fare.

Carnivals
The city hosts a lively and colourful Carnival each spring, with huge crowds descending on the capital to enjoy street festivals and plenty of calypso and soca music. Kingston also hosts the Cariflora Festival every 2 years, celebrating Jamaica's independence, where visitors can view a host of horticultural displays and Caribbean art.

Blue Mountains
The scenic mountains offer a change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the city, and feature picturesque landscapes full of rain forests, waterfalls and exotic flora and fauna. Guided tours are available, as are exciting jeep safaris, and tours of the coffee plantations are popular.

Days Out
Head to Spanish Town to stroll around historic architecture, or visit the small fishing village of Port Royal, famous for its swashbuckling pirates and the site of a devastating earthquake in 1692. For beach lovers, Lime Cay offers a white sandy beach, good for snorkelling and water sports.
