Kercem Things to do

St. Mary Tower
Near to Kercem is the very famous Tower of St. Mary. This tower was controlled by the movement of pirates in the golden ages. It was manned by 130 men and they had 18 guns for their disposal. In this period communication was made with similar towers in day time the message sent by flags and in night by fire.  Well worth a visit if you are in Kercem and want to go and explore.

St. George Church
Near to the Kercem a very ancient church, called  St George's church. In 1506 this church was a Parish church, but was was re-established in 1840 by Pietru Pwal Azopardi. He made the first ever titular statue of Gozo.
 
Statue of St. Andrew
In Kercem lies a very large statue of St Andrew. This was the patron saint for fishermen. This saint is very popular in many villages due to its grace and likeness of several fishing villages in Malta.

Celebrations
There is a large celebration held on a Sunday from the 14th-20th June in Kercem. The main objective is of devotion to the statue made in 1923 and gilded in 1985. And it’s a symbol of love for Jesus. Supposedly the most romantic part of the village is Wied Tal-Lunzjata. It is known to be the most fertile part of mini-valley, which it shared with Rabat.

Diving
Diving in Kercem is an experience not to be missed and the island is the most exciting point in the world. Kercem is the best point for learners and expertise alike due to its calm water. There are many diving schools; they offer the course for learners and skilled alike.

Historical Sights
There are so many historical sites which are thought to be 600 years old if not older. There so many temples and monuments on show in Kercem, and museums that will keep you occupied and give you and insight into some of the local history of the island.
