Kerala Weather - Relaxing tropical sunshine Proximity to the equator means Kerala weather is pleasantly tropical in nature. Temperatures vary little throughout the year, with average maximum highs between 29º and 33º. Most visitors will be interested in the weather in the Kerala beach resorts. The good news is that the Kerala coast tends to see more sunshine and is less humid than inland areas. Kerala avoids the really scorching dry weather of much of India due to the cooling effect of the Western Ghats and pleasant, refreshing, Arabian Sea breezes that make Kerala beaches an ideal winter sun destination for watersports like windsurfing.
Kerala Weather - Highly atmospheric winter sun holidays Without a doubt, the best weather in Kerala is from November to late February. Kerala winter temperatures are marginally lower, but the major factor is rain. These are the months of lowest rainfall. Don’t rule out late winter and the British spring. Kerala temperatures begin to rise in late February and there is a small increase in humidity. March to the end of May will see plenty of pleasant weather and the warmest Kerala temperatures, but occasional thunderstorms. All Kerala holidays may experience tropical rain, but there is a huge difference between a tropical shower and the monsoons. While the Kerala monsoon is highly atmospheric and still sees plenty of sunshine, it is fair to say most travellers try to avoid the main Kerala rainy season, especially June and July. Another less intense rainy period can arrive around October.
Kerala Weather - Cooler in the hills Kerala temperatures are significantly cooler in the Kerala highlands, hill stations and the higher Western Ghats. Take light clothes, an umbrella and something for the cooler winter nights and trips into the highlands. If you are thinking of trekking in the Kerala highlands you will also probably prefer the cooler winter season.
