Kelami holidays – For quiet picturesque Corfu charm Kelami is a picturesque place on the north-east coast of Corfu, 17 miles north of Corfu Town and Corfu airport. A holiday in Kelami would appeal to those looking for the simple pleasures of a good beach, traditional Corfu architecture, fine views and peace and quiet. Kelami has taken some care to retain its traditional fishing village appearance and is reached by steep lanes through olive groves. Several luxury villas dot the surrounding hills. Accommodation in Kelami is largely self-catering and “nightlife” limited to a few bars and taverns on the seafront. Kelami holidays are popular with families and couples who want Corfu charm without big resort excess. The writer Gerald Durrell set up home in Kelami, where he lived for several years and wrote “Prospero’s Cell”.
Kelami beach – A clean beach and exceptional coastline. Sand and shingle Kelami beach is easily accessed and is set in superb Kalami bay. Kelami beach is exceptionally clean, and is fine for children with some shallow water providing safe bathing before sloping off into the clear blue Ionian Sea. There are the usual simple facilities, a swimming pool and water sports like waterskiing and boat hire. Kelami holidays can enjoy some of the best coastline of the island and inland you will find quiet olive groves and beautiful tranquil hills.
Kelami – “White House”, walks and boat trips. A Kelami holiday could include a visit to Durrell’s “White House” and pleasant short walks to Kouloura harbour and along coast paths to unspoilt Agni Bay, where you will also find a few modest tavernas. Agni Bay can also be reached most agreeably by small motor boat available from Kelami beach. A bigger selection of shops and considerably livelier nightlife can be found in nearby Kassiopi connected to Kelami by a bus which also goes to Corfu’s fascinating capital, Corfu Town.
