Katelios – friendly traditional beach resort
Katelios is a small village resort at the extreme south of the island of Kefalonia, 5 miles west of Skala, 25 miles from Argostoli and 20 miles from the airport. An attractive broad bay is the setting for holidays in Katelios, which looks across the water to the island of Zante and the Greek mainland and is surrounded by fertile agricultural land and rocky hills. Katelios holidays tend to attract couples, families and those who appreciate the quiet pleasures of Kefalonia nature and a friendly traditional relatively uncommercial resort. As the most southern resort on the island, Katelios has a laid-back secluded feel despite its recent growth in popularity.
Katelios holidays – a selection of fine beaches
Katelios holiday resort has a small harbour and two long curving beaches with shallow water excellent for safe swimming and a few shady waterfront tavernas. Katelios holidays enjoy a selection of beaches within walking distance of the village. Potomakia beach to the east has guided visits to see the turtles. Pretty Kaminia beach is further along the coast and you will eventually reach good sandy stretches at Mounda beach. A holiday in Katelios can also make use of the beaches at the resort of Skala which is reached by a winding road around the headland.
