It makes a relaxing place to return to at the end of the day.
Kambos – The longest beaches and fine walks Holidays in Kambos enjoy a long sandy beach of grey sand and plenty of tavernas for pleasant relaxed evenings. Kambos beach is mostly sand and stretches for over a mile. The beach here is part of a long stretch of sand and shingle bays on the south-west of the island that rarely get crowded and offer a range of watersports. Holidays in Kambos offer some fine walking with superb views, whether to the foothills of 1440 metre Mount Kerkis, neighbouring villages or further along the coast to discover more beaches. Excellent Psili Ammos beach (there is another beach with the same name near Samos Town) is a popular choice, with lovely silvery sand and great shallow water for swimming. The beach is sheltered by cliffs and is a 40 minute walk from Kambos Beyond this there is the sheltered quiet cove of Limnionas beach. About 40 minutes away in the other direction is the appealing little fishing harbour of Ormos Marathokambos with a tiny traditional village above. Well worth the trip.
Kambos – Relaxing taverna evenings Hectic nightlife is not what holidays in Kambos are about, though there are dozens of tavernas for quiet relaxing evenings and a few bars with music. There is a disco at Ormos, a pleasant 40 minute walk. Favourite Kambos holiday excursions include boat trips to the tiny island of Patmos with its cluster of little churches and a monastery as well as Turkey and the island capital Samos Town.
