Medieval Village
Holidays in Kakopetria are a great choice for those in search of an authentic country town, with the original medieval settlement offering a charming and historic base for a relaxed break. As well as walking, hiking and biking, other activities to try include tennis, horse riding and jeep safaris, with golf courses located a short drive away. During the winter months, there is skiing available in the Troodos Mountains.
Beaches
The beaches are an easy day trip whilst on holiday in Kakopetria, with the sandy shores of Limassol (Lemesos) less than half an hour away, and plenty of opportunity for water sports at the various resorts. There's also excellent scuba-diving and snorkelling along the coast.
Historical sites
There are many Byzantine churches and ancient monasteries in the area, including Kykkos Monastery, one of the most famous on the island. The World Heritage Site of Paphos offers a wealth of attractions, including the Tombs of the Kings, the House of Dionysis, Paphos Castle and the District Archaeological Museum, and the ancient city of Korion is a popular attraction.
Day Trips
Head to Mount Olympus and tour the other charming hillside towns and villages, or take a tour of one of the mountain wineries and enjoy tastings of local vintages. Visit the capital, Nicosia, or spend a day at one of the refreshing water parks along the coast.
