Juan Dolio holiday resort, situated on the South eastern Coast of the Dominican Republic, is a tranquil and relaxing beach resort, ideally positioned to take advantage of the numerous excursions and attractions in the area. Juan Dolio is a long narrow resort which follows the coast, stretching for 5km, with many complexes and hotels lining the resort. The palm-lined beach at Juan Dolio is made up of thin stretches of fine sand, with shallow waters protected by the off-shore coral reef, which means the clear turquoise seas have ideal conditions for swimming. Just two roads run along Juan Dolio, a boulevard behind the beach and a main street, so getting around is easy and safe, with most visitors choosing to walk, bike or take motorcycle taxis around the resort. A small commercial centre in Juan Dolio offers shops and services, with local stalls selling beach goods and souvenirs, with the regions' specialities such as rum, cigars and local amber good buys. Along the beach at Juan Dolio, there are plenty of watersports available, with the coral reef proving a popular place to scuba-dive, and fishing and deep-sea fishing trips on offer. Other activities to try whilst on holidays in Juan Dolio include golf on the 18-hole course, go-karting, bowling and horse-riding. Also available are adventure trips out canyoning and cascading - where visitors get to travel along a river, whilst hiking, swimming and rappelling through the tropical Dominican countryside.

Nightlife in Juan Dolio is fairly laid-back, with bars and restaurants in the hotels offering the most choice, and many tourists visiting the live shows, casinos and the local bars offering the distinctive Dominican Merengue music. Whilst holidaying in Juan Dolio, there are many interesting day trips available, including the baseball town of San Pedro de Marcoris, the lively coastal town of Boca Chica with its' fantastic shallow lagoon, and the colonial city of Santa Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic , which lies just an hour away. Further east from Juan Dolio is the fashionable resort of La Romana, set in an area of exceptional beauty amongst the sugar cane fields in the countryside, and home to a16th century-style artisan village, and the beautiful beaches of Bayahibe, where visitors can take a speedboat trip to the nearby wildlife preserves on the stunning islands of Catalina and Saona.
