Alongside Jolly Beach and the Jolly Harbour marina is an attractive village of apartments and hotels, facilitated by shops, smart restaurants, a dive shop and boat rental companies. There’s also a slightly busier, white sand beach to the south, which is within easy walking distance from the Jolly Beach village.

Antigua is famous for its international sailing regattas and Jolly Harbour hosts an annual two-day regatta at the Jolly Harbour Yacht Club, which starts on Valentine’s Day. Deep-sea fishing trips might also be of interest to visitors to the Jolly Beach resort. You’ll see Caribbean regulars including kingfish, dorado, tuna or barracuda.

Heading south further along the coast from Jolly Beach are two more gorgeous beaches - Valley Church Beach which has two restaurants and hosts West Indian barbecues, and Darkwood Beach which is ideal for safe swimming and snorkelling.

Inland the tropical terrain is fairly flat, bar the 402 m highpoint known as Boggy Peak. Visitors should take time out to spin along Fig Tree Drive, the pretty coastal route which takes you past fishing villages and banana groves, along the south west stretch of Antigua.

At Jolly Beach golfers will love the stunningly set Jolly Harbour golf course, a mere  stone‘s throw away. As Antigua enjoys warm, dry weather throughout most of the year, only lightweight outdoor clothing is needed in the cooler months between September and December.
