Jibacoa Things To Do

The quiet unspoilt beaches in and around Jibacoa are surrounded by high cliffs, giving a feeling of seclusion, and boast soft sand and shallow waters, perfect for relaxing sunbathing and swimming.   

 

Jibacoa is a popular dive destination, thanks to the crystal-clear waters which reach 25C, and the spectacular offshore coral reef. There is an array of glorious tropical fish and marine life to discover, whilst the two well-preserved shipwrecks and underwater caves offer fascinating sites for experienced divers.

For those looking for more activity on the beach, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing and snorkelling can be enjoyed on a holiday to Jibacoa, and there are boat trips up and down the coastline, from hobie cat trips to catamaran cruises.

 

As well as tennis and swimming, the hotels and resorts at Jibacoa have gyms and fitness centres, and facilities for volleyball, basketball, table tennis. Horse riding is available, mountain bikes and scooters can be rented to explore the area, and there are organised scooter tours to local towns and attractions.

 

For a change from the beach, head inland to the mountains to enjoy the region's spectacular scenery, whilst trekking through lush tropical forests, past citrus plantations and along mountain tracks. The region boasts an array of colourful flora, fauna and birdlife to spot, and some breathtaking views.

Local hotels and resorts here offer a range of activities such as competitions and games, dance lessons and language classes, nightly entertainment in the form of themed evenings and gala shows, and a good selection of bars and restaurants. Visit Havana for a taste of the real Cuba and some livelier local nightlife.

 

Jibacoa's colourful 15 Mile-market at Jibacoa is located in the old town and a must for visitors to the resort. Vendors sell a variety of handicrafts, jewellery and leather goods - all great items for gifts and souvenirs.  

 

Days out from Jibacoa include the vibrant and historic city of Havana, the towns of Santa Cruz and Hershey, and a visit to a local run or cigar factory.
