Jet2holidays.com Switches To ATOL Protection

Thursday, 13 September 2007

Jet2holidays.com is switching to an ATOL license to provide customers with an added level of cover for its customers. The scheme previously offered by Jet2holidays.com did not expand to cover destinations that were offered by its sister airline, Jet2.com.

Having an ATOL licence also means that it can package flights from other airlines, a benefit when considering an earlier announcement from Jet2holidays.com that it would start operating package holidays to Sharm El Sheikh with XL Airways in November.

Jet2holidays Managing Director Richard Bodin said: “Customer service is our number one priority alongside value for money, and our new ATOL gives us greater flexibility to offer a broader range of low cost package holidays to a wider UK market. Of course, we will continue to use Jet2.com flights for the vast majority of our holidays, but it was always our intention to expand beyond their 39 destinations and we will be using other operators where we don’t have Jet2.com access.”

Andy Cohen, Manager ATOL Licensing at the CAA, said: “Jet2Holidays’ ATOL will provide its customers with the confidence that their package holidays have the benefit of full financial protection.” The Air Travel Organisers Licensing is managed by the CAA and provides financial protection to customers. More than 2,500 firms are currently licensed by ATOL, including directline-holidays.co.uk, whose ATOL number is 9103.
