Izmir Weather

Izmir benefits from a typically Mediterranean climate of long hot summers and short mild winters. If you are looking for a holiday resort with high summer temperatures then you will not be disappointed with the weather in Izmir. Temperatures head over the 20C mark from late April to early November and in the hottest summer months you expect the temperature to reach 35C. There will usually be cool sea breezes that drift in from the Aegean Sea to take the heat down a notch. Rainfall is usually nonexistent during the long summer months and tends to stick to the winter period.

 

Beach lovers will be in heaven with a holiday in Izmir. The sun shines down on the coastline for an average of 12 hours per day during the summer and even the autumn and spring months will benefit from around nine hours per day. You cannot really go wrong with a region that receives over 300 days of sunshine per year. Temperatures in Izmir head over 30C from June until August and the sea temperature is perfect for swimming or taking part in the numerous water sports that are popular in this area. In October the temperature will be around 26C and the sun will shine down for nine hours per day, which is perfect for a late sunshine break.

 

Autumn and spring are very popular periods with holiday makers who wish to visit outside of the peak season. The weather in Izmir is a pleasant 17C during March and heads over the 20C mark during April. The winter months in Izmir are also warm at 15C and comparable to a warm spring day back in the UK. These cooler periods are perfect for exploring other parts of the Izmir Region including Cesme and Ozdere.
