Istron Weather

The unspoilt resort of Istron lies just 10km from Aghios Nikolaos on the north coast of Crete, and experiences a typically-Mediterranean climate - ideal for a relaxing holiday where the focus is lying on the beach. Boasting a long tourist season running from April to October, the summers remain hot and sunny here, with average daytime temperatures of 28C.  

Istron Weather - Warm spring days, hot sunny summers

There's warm spring weather in Istron, with April, the start of the holiday season, enjoying temperatures of 19C and 8 hours of sunshine each day. This is a great time to take advantage of early-season deals, with these pleasant conditions ideal for walking, cycling and sightseeing, and the island remaining quiet and uncrowded. Rainfall is around 35mm during the month, but the showers are generally short, and help keep the countryside lush and green. May sees the temperatures rise to 23C, and the resort enjoy 10 hours of sunshine, with rainfall averages just 17mm, and by June, Istron is seeing highs of 26C. Peak season months reach 28C, with July and August experiencing an increase in humidity, and virtually no rain at all. The quiet beaches are the place to be at this time of year with the water temperature reaching a very warm 25C. Perfect for swimming and boat trips in the clear Mediterranean seas.        

 

Hot weather continues into September, when the resort sees highs of 26C, and 10 hours of sunshine, with the season winding down in October, when the average temperature is still 22C. Rainfall increases at this time, with Istron receiving 71mm in October, and as much as 122mm - 137mm in the wettest months of December and January. Winters in the resort remain mild however, with daytime highs between 14C - 16C.
