Visit nearby Agios Nikolaos, a busy lively harbour town sitting on the western end of the scenic Gulf of Mirabello, for nightlife and a bigger selection of shops. Popular Istron holiday excursions include the ancient sites at Gournia and Lato and the Venetian fortress at Ierapetra. Longer trips could include the island of Santorini and a boat trip to Chrissi Island. A good bus service runs to Agios Nikolaos.
