Indian Shores Weather

Indian Shores sits on a barrier island on the Gulf Coast of Florida. It is located between Clearwater and St. Petersburg, and is 35km from Tampa International airport. Indian Shores experiences a subtropical climate, with hot weather and abundant sunshine year-round. The best time for an Indian Shores holiday is during the winter, when the weather is warm and dry, with low humidity. 

 

Most visitors flock to Florida during the cold winter season, to relax on the sandy beaches and revel in the hot sunshine that the state is known for, with the quiet Indian Shores providing the ideal setting for a peaceful beach holiday on the Gulf Coast. The days are warm, with January and February seeing the lowest temperatures of 22C, an average of 7 hours of sunshine each day and very comfortable levels of humidity. March sees the temperature rise to 24C and by April and May the average high has reached 27C - 30C. Rainfall is limited during this time, with the monthly average ranging from 60mm - 80mm each month in the winter, and November being the driest month. The sea can be a little chilly in the coolest months of January and February, with average temperatures of 16C - 20C, but by March and April the waters of the Gulf have reached a pleasant 24C.   

 

Temperatures start to rise in May, reaching an average of 30C, and by July and August, Indian Shores can see highs of up to 32C each day. This weather is accompanied by high levels of humidity, making conditions very hot and sticky and rather uncomfortable, despite the ever-pleasant Gulf breezes which help to temper the heat in the summer. The rains increase dramatically in June, when 150mm falls each month, with the wettest month of August seeing over 200mm falling in Indian Shores, and daily showers seen throughout the season. Hurricane season in the resort runs from June to November each year.
