Hua Hin Holidays
Hua Hin - family friendly resort favoured by the Thai royal family
Hua Hin with its beautiful luxury hotels and vast expanse of beach, is 230 km south west of Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand. It is hugely popular with Thai families and has been a popular stamping ground for the Thai social elite, including the royals, since the 1920s. Families, couples and independent travellers visiting from overseas also flock here, as Hua Hin is under three hours driving time from Bangkok airport, and offers a reassuringly wide choice of accommodation and entertainment.
Hua Hin - peaceful escape from exuberant Bangkok
Hua Hin is believed to be Thailand’s oldest beach resort. With its traditional fishing port and some of the original 1920s grand hotels still in evidence, Hua Hin offers holiday visitors a taste of bygone times, alongside all the convenience and comfort of newly built accommodation. The resort is relatively small and peaceful, compared to some of the larger international towns such as Pattaya, on the other side of the Gulf.
Here the most common pastime is beach relaxation, eating well and generally taking it easy. There are water sports on offer, tennis courts and half a dozen golf courses just outside Hua Hin.
Top-end hotels enjoy prime beach-side locations, and have pools and lush, exotic gardens to explore. There are also good quality budget hotels to consider and beach bungalows to rent. Food-lovers will not be disappointed in Hua Hin, where you’ll find excellent, freshly-caught seafood, traditional Thai dishes and international cuisine.
At night Hua Hin is fun to explore. There are plenty of bars and shows to choose from, as well as a night market selling clothes and handicrafts.
Hua Hin - unspoilt south Thai coastline to explore
The coast around Hua Hin is well worth exploring if you tire of the beach. Hua Hin’s sister resort Cha Am is a ten minute drive north and is as well-established and relaxed as Hua Hin. Travelling south from Hua Hin there are many fishing villages and secluded coves. Prachuap Khiri Khan is a provincial capital to the south, with a fascinating fishing port and a scenic bay. Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, with its waterfalls and mangroves is also south of Hua Hin.
