Halkidiki in northern Greece enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate like the rest of the country, boasting glorious weather with over 300 days of sunshine per year, and attracting many holidaymakers every season. With an average annual temperature of 17.5C, weather conditions throughout the year are fair and mild, with Halkidiki experiencing long hot summers, warm sunny days during the spring and autumn months, and cool wet winters.

Warm weather marks the start of the holiday season, with temperatures on the peninsula beginning to rise in the springtime, climbing from 15C in April up to almost 20C during May. These months see about 8 or 9 hours of sunshine a day, making the spring an excellent time to visit, enabling visitors to explore the beauty of the region, and enjoy sightseeing in comfortable temperatures. During the height of the summer temperatures range from 24C-27C, with up to 12 hours of sunshine in July, and the region often sees summer thunderstorms. Plenty of long hot sunny days ensure that the high season is always busy in Halkidiki, with large numbers of tourists resulting in packed coastal resorts and crowded beaches.

The months of October and September still attract a good deal of visitors, with pleasant temperatures ranging from 17C-23C, and the region continuing to see between 6 and 8 hours of sunshine every day. From November to February, the temperature drops to a low of 5C, and there is infrequent rainfall, with October, November and December being the wettest months of the year. Halkidiki does see some fluctuation in weather conditions, with variations between the north and south of the peninsula, and the mountainous areas becoming considerably colder, sometimes even dropping to 0C in the middle of winter.
