Guimar - rooms with a view to enhance your family holiday Guimar is not just a sunny, welcoming place to stay for your well-earned family holiday. It offers you a real taste of Tenerife. Guimar is a quaint town just inland from Tenerife’s eastern coast that affords stunning views of the bright blue sea beyond, and craggy coastal and volcanic inland terrain of the region. The town is well worth exploring in itself, and there are both natural and man made wonders right on the doorstep. The Pyramids of Guimar are here, and Guimar Volcano is here. Of course fantastic beaches, towns of cultural and commercial interest and hotels and restaurants of all types are within very easy reach. The airport is 20 km away.
Guimar - Pleasant town, great accommodation and so much to see and do At Guimar, which is 2 km from the sea, and 20 km from Tenerife’s capital Santa Cruz, you’ll be ideally positioned to take in the best of Tenerife, the biggest of Spain’s Canary Islands. Luxury hotels, villas with pools, quaint Canarian cottages and basic hotel accommodation are all available along this stretch of rugged coastline. The Guimar Pyramids Ethnographic Park is an historic site of great archaeological value. Since 1981 famed Norwegian anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl has been researching theories of the origin of these pyramids, which bear a close resemblance to those found in Mexico and Peru. But don’t let the pyramids overshadow the Guimar Volcano, which has a crater 300 m in circumference and 60 m deep. North of Guimar is Candelaria, noted for the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Candelaria, built in the 1950s in honour of the patron saint of the Canaries, Our Lady of Candelaria. Just north of here at Las Caletillas, is a lovely beach, also well worth a visit.
Guimar - easy access to Teide National Park From Guimar you are only 10 km from the northern point of Tenerife’s Teide National Park. Here is one of the most impressive natural features of the Canaries - the volcano El Teide. At a snow-capped 3,718 m, this mountain is the highest point in Spain. For sensational views of the volcanic landscape of Tenerife and islands beyond, take a cable car ride up to the top.
