Holidays in Guia
Guia, situated just 10 minutes from the bustling resort of Albufeira, is a tranquil area, known for both its’ large numbers of private villas and its’ reputation as a major gourmet centre on the Algarve, famous for the traditional Portuguese dish, chicken piri-piri. Guia is a picturesque village, dating back to Roman times, with great views out over countryside, yet close to some of the wonderful beaches of the area, such as Gale and Castelo.

Holidays in Guia – Many private villas to choose from
The village of Guia is very popular with private villa owners; with Sir Cliff Richard being one of the areas’ more famous residents (visitors can tour his own private vineyard). Centrally located and close to Albufeiras’ beaches, nightlife and attractions, Guia offers a peaceful retreat, with the quaint village centre offering all the basics for a villa holiday. Beaches close by include Gale, with its’ vast golden sands and watersports, Sao Rafael with its’ amazing rock formations and Castelo, regarded as the best cove beach on the Algarve. The old town of Albufeira is just a couple of kilometers away, and a great place to pass a leisurely few hours, whilst enjoying a drink at one of the pavement cafés or browsing the shops for locally made goods.

Holidays in Guia – Numerous restaurants offering the local speciality
Many people visit Guia to sample the delicious authentic cuisine of the area, with the many restaurants offering the spicy piri-piri chicken dish, made with chilis, noteably Ramires and Rei dos Frangos. The village is also the site of the largest shopping centre in the Algarve, a complex housing 130 shops and 30 restaurants, and a convenient multiscreen cinema showing films in English. Families staying in Guia will enjoy the Zoomarine, a combination of zoo and theme park, the nearby bird sanctuary and the waterpark, Aqualand, based at Alcantarilha. Golf lovers have many courses to choose from whilst staying in Guia, and jeep safaris are a fun way to explore the countryside.
