With its gorgeous weather and diverse landscapes, the fascinating island of Gran Canaria is a favourite with British holidaymakers, truly offering something for everyone, from families with children to single travellers. A great option for those looking for year-round sunshine whilst relaxing on the many glorious beaches along the southern coast, the island is also an ideal spot for thrill-seekers, offering excellent opportunities for windsurfing, sailing and fishing. With its variety of different landscapes and climates, Gran Canaria is also popular with walkers and cyclists, and those keen to discover the diverse beauty of the island, from the spectacular sand dunes and mountainous interior, to the rugged coastlines and lush fertile plantations.

"Don't miss the sand dunes at Maspalomas - these really are amazing and well worth the trip, I thought. We did the camel trek, highly entertaining. OK the south is very touristy, but there are plenty of trips and tours available to show you the rest of the island, and you can hire a car (very reasonably) and discover the quieter more traditional places in the north"

"There were tons of different types of tourists where we were in Puerto Rico, and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves in our hotel. We had a really good time there (group of 4 girls) and did a bit of everything - sunbathing, water sports, day trips to water park, a jeep safari and the dunes, and of course lots of eating and drinking."
