Gerani Holidays - A quiet relaxed village near historic Chania
Gerani is a simple small village about ten miles from Chania on the west coast of the island of Crete. This resort is definitely for those looking for a quiet relaxed village with a good quiet beach away from the big crowds and with very low-key nightlife. It is certainly not for those in search of lively nightlife. Nights here are likely to be spent in the smattering of small relaxed bars and restaurants. Spice up a Gerani break in nearby Platanias, which is a much busier resort with another good beach. Chania, the interesting cosmopolitan historic Venetian capital of west Crete is just 7 miles away and connected by regular buses. Here you will find plenty of sophistication and good shopping.

Holidays in Gerani – Quiet and uncrowded
Gerani beach is the focus of a holiday here; a long stretch of sand shingle and pebbles and far less crowded and developed than its neighbour resort of Platanias. Gerani beach is exceptionally clean and has EU blue flag status. Visitors can enjoy watersports, beach volleyball and a generally relaxed and peaceful beach area. Gerani holidays in fact inhabit two villages, Pano Gerani, and the coastal village of Kato Gerani a short distance to the north.

Holidays in Gerani – Crete villages and unspoilt nature
Visitors to the village really should make the most of the surrounding countryside, where you will find impressive Gerani cave, the islet of Agii Theodoroi and a monastery. The town has several small charming traditional Crete villages within a 6 mile radius, including beautiful Modi, picturesque Manoliopoulo, Vrises and Loutraki, the latter with a population of just 150 and just over a mile from Gerani. Traditional bars and tavernas in these true Crete inland villages provide a nice quiet contrast to the coast. Walkers will enjoy relaxed strolls to admire splendid Crete nature featuring plane trees, orange groves and cypresses.
