Gardone Riviera is famed for the unconventional house and gardens of Il Vittoriale, which was home to Gabriele D’Annunzio, Italy’s notorious twentieth century poet and playwright, in the time of Mussolini. Just a short walk from the centre of Gardone Riviera, the house is filled with bizarre objects and echoes of strange parties held by D’Annunzio, attended by Mussolini.
