Gambia Weather - The best weather in West Africa
Gambia weather is considered among the best in West Africa: sunny days, sub-tropical high temperatures and romantic balmy nights. One look at our temperature and sunshine chart will show why this charming south West African country is so popular with serious sunbathers and beach connoisseurs. Most visitors will spend their holidays on the fabulous beaches of resorts like Bijilo, Cape Point, Kololi and Kotu. Fortunately temperatures are lower along the coast than in the interior. High temperatures in popular resorts like Banjul and Kombo are pleasantly cooled by the Atlantic.

Gambia Weather - Idyllic sunny winter beach holidays
Gambia climate is subtropical, with a hot rainy season from June to October and a slightly cooler dry season from November to May. November to March winter sun holidays are virtually rainless. Long, sunny, dry days normally continue well into June. Temperatures from November to March are consistently around 32°. The dry season can bring dry winds from the Sahara. Pack light clothes in general, with light rainwear for the rainier months and a jacket for occasionally cooler nights from January to April. If you take an excursion inland make sure you protect yourself from the intense sun and higher temperatures.

Gambia Weather - Summer holidays in Gambia
Don’t let the rain put you off a summer holiday in Gambia as the rain generally falls in the evening or at night in short intense bursts. The rainy season still sees an amazing amount of hot sunshine by British standards! Rainfall is highest from July to October. August is the rainiest month. The beginning and end of the rainy season can be humid. Rainfall in Gambia is hard to predict as there are large variations from year to year. There is less rain inland.
