Weather in Fort Myers - Subtropical climate in Southwest Florida
Fort Myers lies in Southwest Florida on the Gulf of Mexico, about 56km from Naples. The city experiences a subtropical climate, with hot humid weather and two distinct seasons, accompanied by plenty of year-round sunshine. Winters are the best time to visit Fort Myers, when the days are mild and warm, and the weather is generally dry.
 
Fort Myers Weather - Mild warm weather during the peak winter season
The peak tourist season in Fort Myers runs from October to April, with the period from December to February seeing the best conditions. Temperatures during the winter range from 24C - 27C, with January and February seeing the coolest weather. Humidity is low and comfortable, and the resort sees around 7 - 9 hours of sunshine each day. April begins to heat up, with temperatures reaching 29C, and by the summer the highs rise to 33C, with a dramatic increase in humidity. Winter sees average water temperatures of around 22C in the Gulf, rising to 28C in the summer.

The wet season begins in May and continues until September. Summers see daily afternoon showers, with frequent torrential rains and thunderstorms, and the rains being heavy but short-lived. May sees around 100mm of rain during the month, with June experiencing 211mm and August as much as 241mm. September sees just under 200mm and by October the rains have decreased with just 74mm falling. The hurricane season in the Gulf of Mexico begins in June, with September usually seeing the worst storms in Fort Myers, with plenty of strong winds.
