Weather in Fort Lauderdale - Hot tropical South Florida climate
One of the state's most popular tourist destinations, the city of Fort Lauderdale lies 37km north of Miami on the Atlantic Coast of Florida. The resort enjoys a typically-tropical South Florida climate, thanks to the Gulf Stream which brings warm water up from the south, with an average annual temperature of 28C and plenty of year-round sunshine. The peak tourist season is from December to March, when the weather is warm, dry and mild, with Fort Lauderdale's hurricane season running from June to November each year. 
 
Fort Lauderdale Weather - Dry warm winters on the Atlantic Coast
The city experiences a wet and dry season - with winters seeing mild dry weather and the best climate in Fort Lauderdale, and summers having extremely hot humid conditions. December to March sees day time highs of 24C - 25C accompanied by 7 - 9 hours of sunshine, and pleasant dry days with virtually no humidity. Sea temperatures reach 25C at this time, with the waters of the Atlantic being warm enough for swimming and water sports. Rainfall is limited, with the peak winter season receiving between 40mm - 70mm each month. The temperature and humidity level starts to increase in April, with the days seeing highs of up to 27C and 10 hours of daily sunshine, and by June the temperature is up to 30C and the rainy season has well and truly begun.
 
Weather in Fort Lauderdale - Hot humid summers, with daily rainfall
June is the rainiest time in Fort Lauderdale, receiving 200mm during the month, with between 120mm - 175mm falling each month until October. Summers also see the wettest weather in Fort Lauderdale, with rain and thunderstorms usually arriving most afternoons and being heavy but short-lived. July and August are the hottest months of the year - seeing average highs of 31C and sometimes reaching above 32C. This is also the most humid time in the resort, with extremely high and often uncomfortable levels, although the ocean breezes do help to temper the intense heat.
