Beach
The beach at Fonte Santa is long and sandy, and the perfect spot for some quiet sunbathing. Water sports are offered here, and the beach is served by beach bars and a restaurant. The stretch of coastline is dotted with gorgeous beaches, with other spots to visit including Quarteira, Almargen and Praia do Trafel, as well as the famous sands at Vale de Lobo and Quinta do Lago.
Boat Trips
An ideal way to experience the beauty of the Algarve, with its coastline backed with characteristic limestone cliffs, is from the sea, with a variety of boat trips available. Choose from leisurely organised cruises, dolphin-spotting trips, day-long fishing excursions or private yacht charters.
Local Area
Fonta Santa is a rural area with a peaceful atmosphere, nestled amongst fragrant pine forests, and is most famous for the natural spring found here, which is said to have healing properties. The livelier Quarteira has a harbour and good shops and restaurants, as well as a large gypsy market which draws large crowds every week.
Golf
The Golden Triangle attracts many golfers thanks to its world-class courses, and visitors to Fonta Santa and Quarteira can choose from various options, with the surrounding Vilamoura area home to no less than five 18-hole championship courses.
Sports
As well as the tennis courts located in the many apartment complexes and villas, a number of tennis clubs can be found in the area, both private and public, with professional instruction and coaching available. Water sports such as windsurfing, waterskiing, jet skiing and paragliding are offered in Quarteira, and nearby beaches offer scuba diving and sailing. There are also facilities for go-carting, squash, bowls and shooting around Fonta Santa.
Countryside Tours
The forests, woods and farmlands around Fonta Santa hide paths and tracks that lead into the scenic countryside, with active guests able to walk, hike, mountain bike or head out on horseback to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding area.
Days out
The upscale Vilamoura offers a change of pace, and boasts a cosmopolitan air with its luxury marina, bars, restaurants and casino, whilst the village of Loule is home to a castle, and Faro has a charming Old Town to explore. Families can head to the local water parks for a change of pace - both Aquashow and Atlantic Park are very close.
